Good Samaritan Medical Center Announces Emergency and Trauma Leadership

 
Doctors Tapped to Lead Trauma Program and Emergency Medicine Relations
 
Good Samaritan Medical Center has recently announced the appointments of Richard L. Paulson, MD and Zachary B. Kramer, MD to leadership positions with the Emergency Department. Dr. Paulson serves as the Trauma Medical Director for the Level III Trauma Program and Zachary B. Kramer, MD has been appointed as Good Samaritan Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director.
 
Dr. Paulson, a longtime resident of Easton, has been an active member of the surgical staff at Good Samaritan since 1987, is certified by the American Board of Surgery and Critical Care, and has achieved awards and membership in several Trauma Societies. 
Dr. Paulson, received his MD at Albany Medical College, NY, and completed both his internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Brighton, MA. He completed a fellowship in Traumatology and Critical Care Medicine at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore, MD. He is deftly suited for the role of Trauma Medical Director. 
 
The Trauma Medical Director is responsible for the ongoing development, growth and oversight/authority of the Trauma Program. Dr. Paulson will focus on promoting high standards of practice through development of trauma policies, protocols and practice guidelines; participating in rigorous performance improvement monitoring; staff education and trauma research. 
 
 
 
Dr. Kramer has been an attending physician in the Good Samaritan Emergency Department since 2015 and is board certified in Emergency Medicine and holds additional certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Life Support. 
 
Dr. Kramer earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his internship in surgery at Marshal University, West Virginia, before his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Shands Hospital of Florida University.  
In his role as EMS Medical Director, Dr. Kramer will provide clinical oversight and quality assurance of Good Samaritan affiliate EMS agencies and act as a liaison between ED medical staff and EMS partners. In addition, in his role as EMS Medical Director he will provide EMS authorization to practice pre-hospital medicine; provide clinical oversight to assure our standard of patient care pre-hospital; and provide continuing education and EMS grand round case review. 
 
Dr. Kramer will also act as the medical director for two of Good Samaritan Medical Center’s affiliate agencies: Easton EMS and Brewster Ambulance, Brockton.
