Good Samaritan Medical Center partners with Stoughton YMCA on Women’s Health Forum

Mary Richardson to moderate “Ladies Lunch and Learn” on Wednesday, May 13 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Mary Richardson, Steward Health Care community liaison and former host of Chronicle, will be at the Stoughton YMCA on Wednesday, May 13, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a special “Meet the Experts” Women’s Health Ladies Lunch and Learn. Join Mary and two of Good Samaritan Medical Center’s top OB/GYN physicians – Lucy Lomas, MD and Vikas Merchia, MD – to hear the latest advances in women’s health.

“We don’t often have an opportunity to discuss these topics with women outside of an office visit,” said Dr. Lomas, “And sometimes, even then, we do not have the chance to cover all the topics we’d like to.”  Dr. Merchia agrees. “It is a great opportunity for us to help prepare women for what may come as they age, and, in some cases, give them a chance to speak to us about concerns that may be awkward or cause anxiety.”

Mary Richardson will lead an interactive and frank discussion with Dr. Lomas and Dr. Merchia on female pelvic medicine, including the following topics:

Pre Pregnancy
The importance of planning for pregnancy, including pre-pregnancy testing, diet and proper nutrition for women in the 20s through 40s.

Changes to Expect in the Middle Years

Discussion of surgeries women may face, the importance of screenings, and other common issues women experience as they age between 35 to 65 years.

Menopause and Beyond
Explanation of the stages of menopause from pre and peri to post as well as advances in urogynecology for women ranging from age 45 to 75, including the use of robotic-assisted surgical technology.

Ladies Lunch and Learn is free and open to the public.  A light lunch will be served.  Call to register and reserve seating at 1-800-488-5959.
