Good Samaritan Medical Center included in 2014 Physician Group Honor Roll with Distinction

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care awarded 310 physicians affiliated with Good Samaritan Medical Center (GSMC), a part of Steward Health Care System, with the 2014 Physician Group Honor Roll award. The group was one of eight Steward physician groups honored this year and GSMC ranked among the top 25 percent of those measured annually.

“We are incredibly proud of our physicians,” said John A. Jurczyk, president of GSMC. “Each one of them brings a high level of expertise and commitment to excellence and this recognition serves as a validation of that commitment.  It is also reflective of our mission to provide high quality care to each one of our patients.”

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has an ongoing strategy to recognize and reward quality care, and has published an "Honor Roll" of physician groups whose commitment to high quality care has earned them the distinction of membership on the Harvard Pilgrim Physician Group Honor Roll. The Honor Roll is based on performance against the National Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) quality benchmarks, as reported by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

Harvard Pilgrim scores physicians and combines HEDIS measures for both adult and pediatric patients into three domains: Acute Care Domain, Chronic Care Domain, and Preventive Care Domain.  Physician groups who perform at or above the national 90th percentile in all three domains are named to the Honor Roll with Distinction.

Steward Health Care Network (SHCN), the second largest physician network in Massachusetts, provides care to more than one million patients annually.  SHCN’s Greater Brockton Local Chapter is comprised of 70 primary care providers and more than 240 specialists representing 50 areas of medical expertise. The Chapter serves the entire Greater Brockton region including Bridgewater, Easton, Stoughton, Randolph, Whitman, and West Bridgewater.  SHCN operates on a community-based care model, and promotes care coordination and collaboration within the network in order to provide high quality, efficient care to patients.
