NAACP and AdMeTech join in honoring the memory of Harold “Bo” Marrow Jr.

Thursday, September 27, 2018 AdMeTech Foundation, Brockton Area Branch NAACP, and Good Samaritan Medical Center are holding a Prostate Cancer Awareness Event in honor of Harold “Bo” Marrow Jr.  This event will bring into a sharp focus the prostate cancer crisis and related health disparities facing the local community, in particular, black men.

“While prostate cancer is curable when detected early, Mr. Marrow recently lost his battle with this disease,” said Dr. Faina Shtern, President of the AdMeTech Foundation. “Unfortunately, he is among many men in Brockton who have been stricken by prostate cancer. The goal of our event is to ensure that men will learn about their individual risks and recent advances in health care options. This knowledge will make it possible for men to take charge of their health and save their lives.”

Phyllis Ellis, President, Brockton Area Branch NAACP, says, “Bo, a past vice president and longtime member of the Brockton Area Branch NAACP, will be missed by many who knew him so well.  Bo was a quiet soul with a generous heart. May he rest in peace.”

“We are thrilled to be collaborating once again with the Brockton Area Branch NAACP and AdMeTech,” said Jason Zauls, MD, Cancer Program Medical Director and President of the Medical Staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center. “Prostate Cancer is a major health concern in our patient base and having opportunities to work with our community partners on events like this are just one of the many ways our hospital is working toward creating healthier environments for the public we serve.”

At the event, elected officials, prostate cancer survivors along with leaders of advocacy, community education, and medicine will join efforts to highlight the impact of prostate cancer on Brockton men and their families with the goal of empowering fully-informed decisions on the most effective and minimally invasive health care options, which are critical for improving quality of life and saving lives.
