Steward Medical Group and Good Samaritan Medical Center Welcome Akash Patel, MD, to New Family Medicine Practice

Prominent South Shore physician to open Steward Novacare Medical in East Bridgewater

Steward Medical Group is pleased to welcome Akash Patel, MD, a board-certified Family Medicine physician who has provided care to thousands of patients along the South Shore during the last decade. Dr. Patel, a former partner and physician at Compass Medical, will open Steward Novacare Medical, a family medicine practice, on Dec.1.

“I am delighted to join Steward Medical Group and to be a part of Steward Health Care,” said Dr. Patel. “My staff and I look forward to welcoming patients to our new home and continuing to provide them with high quality health care close to home.”

Dr. Patel, who has a clinical interest in preventative care, hypertension and cardiovascular wellness, will be a member of the medical staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He received his medical degree from the Pramukhswami Medical College, Sardar Patel University in Gujarat, India. He moved to the United States shortly after his graduation and completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry/Hoboken University Medical Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Physicians and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Steward Novacare Medical, located at 401 North Bedford St., East Bridgewater, will be open seven days a week, welcomes walk-in patients, and will provide primary care and urgent care. The practice will also have a blood draw station, X-ray and ultrasound on-site. The practice is located across the street from Dr. Patel’s previous medical practice and future growth plans include the addition of specialty care in cardiology and gastroenterology. Joining Dr. Patel will be Michelle Sparks, RN, nurse manager, who has worked extensively in the areas of internal medicine and family medicine, post-surgical care, adult psychiatry, and in ambulatory settings, as well as Samantha Shea, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in care across the lifespan.
